Inspired by a CAT Dump Truck working on a road work site, this quilt block pattern creates a 12” patchwork quilt block.
My little boy loves this quilt block which I used in his construction themed quilt (I’m kind of partial to it as well).
This patchwork quilt block can be used by itself or with coordinating pieced or appliqued blocks to make a great looking truck quilt, wall hanging, table runner, tote, book bag, mug rug or pillow cover.
Purchasers of this pattern will receive an instantly downloadable PDF file which contains:
-Printable Foundation Templates for a 12 inch quilt block featuring a Big Dump Truck
- Written instructions to assist in arranging and joining the templates.
- Layout diagrams
- Templates for both a left and right facing dump truck.
-Photocopy instructions for changing the block size to suit your quilt!
Please note that this pattern comes with a separate file which contains basic paper piecing instructions. This pattern is great for someone with experience in paper piece patterns or a beginner. If you need more help to learn - I also run individual online lessons!
The Dump Truck quilt block pattern consists of 7 sections which need to be sewn together. A diagram detailing the layout of the pieces is included, as are numbers showing the order in which each section should be sewn. All the finished sections include seam allowances. This foundation paper pattern assumes that you have some experience in paper piece quilting.
To ensure that the pattern prints out at the right size, please make sure that you have unchecked "scale to fit page" in your printer settings. Instructions to reduce or increase the size of the finished block are included, however, it should be noted that some of the numbered sections are very small and reducing the size may result in a loss of detail in the finished product.
All diagrams, templates and instructions are subject to copyright by Rachel Julia of Kohatu Patterns 2019.
Purchasers may sew finished items from my patterns for both personal use and small-scale production for sales at local markets and online. It should not be mass produced. Please credit Kohatu Patterns for the design if selling online.

Each of my patterns has been developed with care and tested by multiple people. However, if you find a mistake in one of my patterns, please send me an email containing a photo of the mistake or detailed description (page number and problem) within 30 days of your original purchase. I will not only refund your purchase, but will also provide you with another pattern free of charge as well as a corrected copy of the pattern you originally purchased when it becomes available.
It's not a mistake. Most of my patterns are Foundation Pieced Patterns and Fabric requirements can vary greatly depending on your technique, experience and level of skill.
I have found that most people like to use scraps from their stash or Fat Quarters to make smaller Foundation Pieced blocks.
Large Patterns and Patterns that are not Foundation Pieced will have a list fabric requirements.
The item you have purchased is digital in nature. I highly recommend you download it immediately after purchase and save a copy of this file to your computer for future use. However if something goes wrong and for some reason you can no longer access your pattern, email me with a copy of your receipt, date of purchase or Etsy order number and I will send you another copy as soon as I can.
