The Iris is a beautiful spring flower which is easily foundation pieced and looks fantastic when combined with other flower quilt blocks. This particular block is part of a series of six blocks which were used to create a stunning lap quilt inspired by my Nana's garden. Other flowers in this series include a Daffodil, Rose, Pansy, Tulip and a Bird of Paradise.
This block can be used in combination with other pieced or appliqued blocks and is great for accenting handmade gifts for Christmas or Mother's Day!
Each of the blocks in this series are 9" square and are fully foundation paper pieced. They have been each individually featured in Online Quilt Magazine during 2019.
The patterns all contain coloured foundation templates, a black and white design/colouring template and comprehensive written instructions for putting the template pieces together. The Rose Pattern is one of the more complex patterns in this series and has 7 smaller foundation pieced sections to sew together. The Tulip, Bird of Paradise and Iris are simpler patterns and may be better for beginners.
Pattern purchasers may sew finished items from my patterns for both personal use and small-scale production for sales at local markets and online. It should not be mass produced. When selling online, credit to Kohatu Patterns is most appreciated; however, it is not essential. Patterns should not be copied or re-distributed to others without the express permission of Kohatu Patterns.

But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
Each of my patterns has been developed with care and tested by multiple people. However, if you find a mistake in one of my patterns, please send me an email containing a photo of the mistake or detailed description (page number and problem) within 30 days of your original purchase. I will not only refund your purchase, but will also provide you with another pattern free of charge as well as a corrected copy of the pattern you originally purchased when it becomes available.
It's not a mistake. Most of my patterns are Foundation Pieced Patterns and Fabric requirements can vary greatly depending on your technique, experience and level of skill.
I have found that most people like to use scraps from their stash or Fat Quarters to make smaller Foundation Pieced blocks.
Large Patterns and Patterns that are not Foundation Pieced will have a list fabric requirements.
The item you have purchased is digital in nature. I highly recommend you download it immediately after purchase and save a copy of this file to your computer for future use. However if something goes wrong and for some reason you can no longer access your pattern, email me with a copy of your receipt, date of purchase or Etsy order number and I will send you another copy as soon as I can.
