Contains Five Foundation paper Pieced Quilt Blocks:
Train Engine, Carriage, Coal Car, Box Car and Caboose!
Make your own Patchwork Locomotive Train Quilt!
This Choo Choo Train quilt pattern is a single PDF file of 48 pages, containing foundation paper piece quilt templates to help you make a Steam Train Quilt. The perfect quilt to make for children - especially little boys who love Trains, but also perfect for older locomotive enthusiasts as well!
Depending on how you construct your quilt, you may not need to print all pages, and can selectively print the templates that you wish to make.
This pattern consists of five interchangeable quilt blocks that can be sewn together in any combination to create passenger trains, freight trains, or a combination of both!
Each of the five blocks connects seamlessly to each other and should measure 14" x 10" (when printed to actual size) and finished into a quilt. The pattern comes with templates to face either right or left depending on your preference and all blocks and templates include a 1/4” seam allowance.
You can make your quilt in various sizes, simply by adding more of your preferred blocks or more trains!
Five different quilt blocks are included in the pattern:
- Train (Locomotive Engine)
- Coal Car
- Box Car and;
Each of the blocks has templates for both left and right-facing trains, except the Box Car which is a single multi-directional block.
All templates are provided in colour, and numbered so that you can easily identify which fabrics to sew where, and in what order.
Each of the blocks has a handy diagram to assist you in putting the completed templates together, as well as comprehensive written instructions.
This patchwork pattern contains templates and fabric allowance calculations to make the Cover Image, however DOES NOT contain detailed instructions on connecting each block as this can be changed to suit your individual requirements, and you can make as many or as few of the blocks as you wish, making quilts of various sizes and lengths.
It is recommended that these blocks are for people with prior experience in paper piecing. If you want to learn how check out my workshops, where I will personally teach you how to foundation paper piece!

Each of my patterns has been developed with care and tested by multiple people. However, if you find a mistake in one of my patterns, please send me an email containing a photo of the mistake or detailed description (page number and problem) within 30 days of your original purchase. I will not only refund your purchase, but will also provide you with another pattern free of charge as well as a corrected copy of the pattern you originally purchased when it becomes available.
It's not a mistake. Most of my patterns are Foundation Pieced Patterns and Fabric requirements can vary greatly depending on your technique, experience and level of skill.
I have found that most people like to use scraps from their stash or Fat Quarters to make smaller Foundation Pieced blocks.
Large Patterns and Patterns that are not Foundation Pieced will have a list fabric requirements.
